The challenge
Bring a tired, empty two-storey hall and its neglected grounds up to the standard an early years setting needs, with both floors and the outdoor space delivered together on a two-month programme.

Harrow, London
A disused community hall with overgrown grounds transformed into a Montessori nursery, inside and out, in a two-month programme.
Overview
Blue Nest Montessori's Harrow branch started as a block-built community hall over two floors that had fallen out of use: a main hall with a stage and stacked furniture, bare breeze-block rooms upstairs and down, cluttered stores, and grounds lost to long grass and brambles behind a rotten boundary fence and chain-link storage cages.
Over two months we turned the whole site into a working nursery. Inside, both floors were refitted: the hall and the rooms around it became classrooms and a baby room with new floors, finishes, storage and child-height furniture, and the first floor was extended to add a sleeping room and a studio. Outside, the grounds were cleared, re-fenced and laid with a safety surface, then fitted with climbing equipment, a slide, a timber den and planting.

Strip-out and refit of both floors, with the first floor extended for a new sleeping room and studio, in parallel with a full clearance and rebuild of the outdoor areas: new boundary fencing, safety surfacing, play equipment and a covered den.
A complete nursery handed over in two months, from the classrooms, baby room and new first-floor sleeping room and studio to a secure, fully equipped outdoor play area where the overgrown grounds used to be.
